This morning, for once, the alarm clock wakes us up. Our daily program is tightly scheduled. Something that rarely happens on our tour. But of course our morning coffee ritual is on the agenda first. Then we get Hector ready to go. Electricity is already stored and water is also stocked up. Then we drive to a Mercadona. We have grown fond of this supermarket chain here in Spain. They usually have super fresh vegetables, delicious fish and, for me, meat. But this time we are a little disappointed. But we get the essentials.
We are now equipped to be self-sufficient for a few days. We head south again for a change. We are really looking forward to the ferry to Ibiza. On the way, we tune in to the appropriate playlist. - We had the choice of starting from Valencia or Denia. The crossing from Valencia would have taken 3 hours longer, the journey by van to Dénia only 1 hour. So we opted for an hour with Hector. This gives us exactly the time we need for a big wash.
Yes, it's that time again and the laundry bag is full to the brim. When we stow away the laundry two hours later, we are in a great mood. There's nothing nicer than the whole van and especially the bed linen smelling fresh again.
The ferry ride is relatively unspectacular. It's only when we get off that it gets a little bit bumpy. Only when I write this word do I realize, thanks to Torgit's advice, that this is not a word that can be found in the dictionary. Kurmelig is probably Remscheider Platt and means something like untidy or messy. We have to leave the ferry backwards as the front loading hatch is not being used. So a bit of maneuvering back and forth. And then the time has come, we drive down the ramp and are on Ibiza. It's already dark here at around 19:00. But the first thing we see is the illuminated old town district of Dalt Vila with the Gothic Catedral de Santa María and the fortress.
We leave Ibiza Town to the left for now and make our way north-west. We simply follow a few GPS coordinates. Today we want to see Ilona, Jeronimo and their two children Isa and Hugo again. We have come to really appreciate the Dutch couple we last saw in Portugal.
You know those moments when you come to a place you've never seen before in your life and feel at home? This was the case here. We drive along a narrow country lane and find ourselves in front of a small but very nice finca. The welcome is more than warm and the table is already set for us. Once the children are in bed, we enjoy the meal with a glass of wine. Although we talk in English - my English really isn't very good - I once again have the feeling that I am not only having more in-depth and better conversations than usual, but also that I understand and am understood better. We don't get back into the van until late at night. The whole sky is full of stars. The sky must be crystal clear. What a sparkle. A special day comes to an end.
