When we wake up in the morning in our marina, not only is the sun shining through the window, but we can see a bit of greenery, a palm tree and a few sailing boats behind it. The Gelves marina is located on the west bank of the River Guadalquivir.
There is also a rowing club here. It's fun to watch the graceful boats. Now that's befitting, isn't it? - Only now do I realize that we are back in Spain. From day no. 41 to yesterday, day no. 113, we were in Portugal, as you know. We spent over ten weeks there and learned to love and appreciate the country. But now it's back to Spain. - So don't be surprised if there's a big gap in the overview under the Spain category. - From now on it's back to "on course in Spain".
We take it easy this morning. - It's a pleasant seventeen degrees, with twenty-one to come. - First we take a shower and then make coffee. Torgit makes us a wonderful breakfast and I have a little time to catch up on the blog. There was something, oh yes, Christmas. (Note from Torgit: "showered"? Yes, with unlimited running water and, well, not hot, but at least lukewarm. If you've been standing on the beach for several days, a shower like this is pure paradise and makes you really happy! And clean 😉 )
In the late afternoon, we take an Uber to the city center of Seville, which is about 15 minutes away. We start at Plaza De Cuba, cross the Canal de Alfonso XIII via the Puente San Telmo and stroll along the banks for a while. I then pay a visit to the Barber de Sevilla. - He does an excellent job, but otherwise can't compete with his last "colleague" from Portugal. The expectations were high, very high. With this title. Gioachino Rossini will surely be turning in his grave at this statement. - After all, with his opera "Il barbiere di Siviglia", or "The Barber of Seville", he not only made himself famous in the city, but also around the world.
Torgit, who was already feeling a "little" hungry, has already gone ahead. - Her destination, a tapas bar that was recommended to us. - But this bar, whose name we won't mention, turns out to be mediocre despite good reviews. Or are our expectations too high? - Anyone who has ever eaten Bagatellchen, Kölsch for tapas, at Bagatelle in Cologne's Südstadt district will know what I mean. Afterwards, we stroll through Seville for a while. The streets are lively and there's a good atmosphere everywhere. We enjoy our walk. - Later, we drive back to Hector. We are enjoying Uber more and more.
Insight of the day: Sometimes it's the differences we should trust in. - "In difference we trust"
So there can probably only be one real Barbiere di Siviglia. - This point clearly goes to Rossini.
