"Sandalyon", the Greeks called this island, because the shape reminds a little of a footprint. Our ambition is to keep our footprint on the island small, and yet explore the island under our feet and tires.

Torgit: Arrival in Sardinia
At 6 o'clock the alarm clock rings, because at 7 o'clock is scheduled arrival of the ferry in Olbia. The night was short and restless. Last night we wondered how to sleep with the loud air conditioning, but the ferry is even louder and more rumbling. Once again, I love my earplugs. But you don't just hear the ferry, you also feel it in your stomach, and the swell to boot. Actually, it's a miracle that we slept at all.

The shower awakens our spirits and we are ready to check out. Leaving the ferry is unspectacular. We arrived well in Sardinia and are happy about the sun and the mild temperatures. Almost 20 degrees with a mix of sun and clouds make us very, very happy. It can stay like this.

We see a lot of police and fever is measured again, but no one wants to see our entry form here. I notice that I showed the wrong form at the check-in last night. So much for the supposedly tense situation. The Italians make the relaxed impression for which they are known. This also seems to apply to the Sardinians.

So we first drive a few meters to the first quay wall. Incredible, only a few meters driven and we are standing on the water. A sign says "Parcheggio Gratuito Porto Turistico" - free parking, we are tourists too. So first take a breath and look at the sea and harbor and of course make a coffee. Oh yes, do not forget breakfast. Then finally time to complete and upload the blog posts of the last few days.

Our goal for today is short. We want to drive a little south along the east coast and explore the first miles, as well as look for a place to sleep for the first night. Again and again we deviate from the main road and look for small roads as possible, close to the coast. This goes better than expected.

One of these pans takes us to Porto Taverna. Small bungalows flank the beach here. Here are also some campers directly on the beach. We first want to walk a little on the beach. But we do not get far. The beach shack (Cafe Restaurant) 12.1 is according to Trip Advisor only the No. 3 here on the beach. But even this is enough for four stars. We sit in the sun and drink a nutty white wine. What more could you want? You could sit here for hours.

But we have to go on, because it is important to find a nice place before the night. So we continue along the coast. A little north of Baia Sant'Anna we find what we are looking for. A small road leads to the beach. At the edge of a heath we find a place sheltered from the wind.

"Wowh, Sardinia keeps its promise already on the first evening. The smell of salty air mixes with the scent of heather. We are thrilled. We quickly put up the roof and start cooking.
Day No. One in Sardinia will be hard to top.

In the morning we are awakened shortly before sunrise by a crowing rooster. We have slept wonderfully. So we stand outside early and look at the rising sun. Day No. 2 on Sardinia starts as well as No. 1 ended. There it is again, the feeling of the south. Coffee simply tastes better when you can feel the sun on your skin.

And then the fruit, it is simply divine. We happened to buy Pursha lime, the almost sweet "Roman" variant, delicious. So the fruit muesli tastes twice as good.

We take a relaxed approach to the day. First I go for a swim. It is already fresh. Then a little early morning exercise and reading.

Later we deal a little with BUTCH, our SpaceCamper. We still sort a little back and forth, bring our water filter to the start. Our home is getting more and more comfortable.

A little wind comes up at noon. It becomes noticeably cooler. We cook first, pasta. What else?

We want to go a little further south, because here we want to "Just out for a moment" meet. So now everything is stowed away again after all.

We find our place at Capo Ferrato, 39°17'54.0″N 9°37'11.3″E, in the southeast of the island. But it is already dark when we arrive. Whether the morning view can top the moment of this morning? We let ourselves be surprised.
