Costa Rei

Today we are woken up by the sun again. The sunrises on Sardinia's east coast are a dream. We have a direct view of the sea. So we get out of bed. Shortly afterwards, we have our first coffee in a small bay on the Costa Rei. We sit on a small rock, directly on the beach. Suitably motivated, I (Marc) plunge into the water afterwards. Although there's really no question of falling. The pebbly entrance is so shallow that I find myself pulling rather than swimming. Nevertheless, it is simply wonderful, wonderful. Afterwards I take a shower.

The water in the sea is pleasantly warm at around 20°. No comparison with the Atlantic last year. Then the sun on our skin, it's already 17°, it's supposed to be 21°. This is how a day should start.

Meeting with @nurmalkurzraus

Today we meet up with @nurmalkurzraus, his wife Nurcan and his 12-year-old son Fero. @nurmalkurzraus and I got to know and appreciate each other a few weeks ago at an off-road driving training course in Fursten Forest. From the very first moment, you could feel that we spoke the same language. Which is no wonder, because we subsequently realized that we have the same stable smell.

Together we drive criss-crossing the mountains towards the west of Sardinia. Our destination is Piscinas. A dune landscape by the sea that brings a desert feeling to Italy. However, the route there first takes us through the mountains. A beautiful serpentine route. Riding a motorcycle here would also be a lot of fun. The road leads through a barren landscape and is lined with cacti with prickly pear and olive trees. Everything seems wild, free and untouched.

Piscinas

In the evening, we stand between the dunes right by the sea in Piscinas on Sardinia's west coast and enjoy the sunset. There are only a few vehicles so close to the water. We strike up a conversation with a couple from Austria. They are on tour with a Land Cruiser. They have been following the call of freedom for a very long time. They talk about their tours through South Africa, Botswana and Tanzania. They talk about how small you feel as a human being when you are parked between lions, giraffes and zebras. I know this feeling from Botswana, South Africa and Kenya. But unlike me, they didn't go on short tours in a park, but traveled through the wilderness in their own vehicles. The next day, I go back to their vehicle. It is important for me to get rid of the fact that I would not only have felt so small among the "wild" animals, but also after their travel description.

Torgit and I have already seen a lot, but it's still not enough for us. My friend Uwe would say: "It's still beautiful even if I wasn't there", but I have the feeling that a human life also serves a little to explore God's diversity. I'm certainly not a particularly pious person, but at the latest when I'm sitting here by the sea, with the variety of stars shimmering above me, I feel small, very, very small. Do you know this feeling?
