Dune di Piscinas
We would like to have a look at the Dune di Piscinas, which we have seen again and again from a distance in the last few days, now up close. Whether it is just as beautiful as the Dune du Pilat, where we were in the fall of 2019? We go direction red river and turn left before. Once more turned left we stand again in the middle of the mud and in the most beautiful offroad mode. Somehow we had not expected so much mud here before the dune, because it has not rained in recent days, but so what. Since the Terranger Offroad Training we know all about mud and sludge.
The offroad route to the dune
Marc goes ahead, looks at the next puddle and tests how deep it is with a stick. It seems unspectacular. So we ease off the throttle and drive through it smoothly. All of a sudden there's a thud and the entire contents of our cockpit fly through the van. When they designed the new cockpit of the T6.1, they didn't think about off-road. That's clear. Otherwise it would not have been designed so open. The puddle was then probably not as harmless as it looked at 1st glance. A root under water was even quite stupid. Well, our Bulli still drives and makes no noticeable noises. And is again full of mud from top to bottom. Which wouldn't be so bad if the mud didn't smell like manure.
All the more important to us that we do not get stuck in this slurry. Oh yes, since we have an appointment with the ferry tonight, getting stuck today would be really stupid. We continue through a few more puddles, but today it's not as much fun as usual. The shock of the 1st puddle sits. Arrived at the Dune di Piscinas, we take a few photos and Marc lets the drone rise. This dune does not seem quite as gigantic as the Dune du Pilat. This wind-formed dune is up to 100m high and stretches over 2km in this nature reserve. But here you are alone and have the dune all to yourself.
What serves as a beautiful backdrop for our SpaceCamper has already served Francis Ford Coppola as a backdrop for 'Black Stallion' in 1978 and more recently some rappers as a backdrop for music videos.
PS: I don't even know what Torgit has. I also had a lot of fun today. Luckily we find a ford with fresh water at the end. Already our BUTCH is almost clean again. O.k. I admit, he has smelled a little 😉.
