A lot has happened in the last few days. - Everything has come to a head a little. - Today we finally come to rest a little. So I also find the time to write these lines. With a view to the Baltic Sea. But first one after the other.
Not only because of our household clearing everything went a little up and down. But also because we try to squeeze everything possible into our Cologne time. Optimizing the new car for the next launch, doctor's appointments, friends, optimizing a few things for the blog, fixing the computer....
Speaking of time for friends, my friend Micha and I took a little motorcycle tour through the Bergisches Land as well as the Sauerland. I ride a Honda XRV 750 Africa Twin. More specifically, a RD07a, thus the last evolutionary stage of the Africa Twin, which is also known as the "Queen of Africa". Won this not only off-road, but especially desert-ready motorcycle four times in a row the Paris-Dakar Rally. As long as I've known my friend Micha, he's been riding Africa Twin. You know when you're standing in front of a motorcycle and you know that someday I'm going to ride one of those. I always thought they were cool. This was also the reason why I made the motorcycle license over twenty years ago. But something prevented me at that time from buying a machine directly. Today I'm sure it was my protective instinct. Because otherwise höha would have become schnella weita, quickly lower. But when Micha drove up with the Africa Twin in the summer two years ago, there was no stopping me. - I wanted a Twin, now. But where to get it? Micha did not want to give his away. Since the XRV 750 is no longer built since 2003, good copies have become rare. Although there is since 2015 the successor Honda CRF 1000 L Africa Twin. But I wanted the original. Micha's brother Andreas gave the decisive tip. "You know one that knows one". And although I was not even aware, the good friend of an old friend, owned a Twin. - One visit later, it was my Twin. - So since then I've been riding motorcycles and what can I say, the Twin is one of the few things I've missed on the road. - That's why she is also stored and not sold.
What else happened?
We are making good progress, but if it were up to us, we would already be back on the road. So it's all the nicer that things are progressing with Butch, our SpaceCamper. VW still has a few bottlenecks. But SpaceCamper has made it possible for us to take over the vehicle for the time being. We are very happy. At the beginning of the week the time had come. The vehicle registration certificate (Zulassungsbescheinigung Teil 2) arrived in the mail. But now it's not as if you can register a vehicle so easily in Kölle, in times of Corona. Online appointments are booked up for weeks. And even the registration services are highly regulated. In such cases it is good to know someone who knows someone. In my case, this was Carsten, the boss of my favorite car dealership, PerfectCAR Cologne, specialists by passion. - Although the car dealership specializes in classic cars, especially English sheet metal, including Rolls Royce, Jaguar, Bentley and Aston Martin, even if you have a SMART or Volkswagen, you will be looked after in style. You're in a hurry, we can handle it, period. - The beauty of it, here's another word. "You can pick up the license plates before closing time, I promise" - So it was.
Finally I had the new license plate in my hand. K-PB 3000 - PB for Plan B and the 3,000. How does the Kölsch say? "Dreimol Null es Null, bliev Null"- Why do I identify myself with this? - Not only does every Kölsch child know this line, you could almost say it is Cologne's secret anthem. - Cologne has been my home for fifteen years and will remain so. - Beyond that I can identify myself well with the Dreimol Null. Was I myself part of such a Dreimoll Null. During my school years I have often heard it. "You are ne zero and blievst ne zero". The other two zeros were my friends Frank and Knut. In the end, our teachers were right. Nobody wanted us, so we had to start our own business. Frank has been running a car dealership for many years, Knut a carpentry shop, only I ended up on the street.
