France Atlantic Coast | Revival Tour | 3 Highlights Not to Be Missed
Déja vu "In the morning, various roosters and quacking ducks wake us up. - Nature can be so cruel. As every day, we go out into the fresh air for mattresses and bedding. The van always looks a little funny then. Although I (Marc) never in my life Tetris...
Day No. 23 - Dune du Pilat - Donostia-San Sebastián - Zarautz

Day No. 21 - Citadelle de Blaye - Blaye Citadel

Day No. 20 - hop on hop off - La Bernerie-en-Retz

Day No. 19 - Nantes - Naoned
It rained heavily overnight. What is romantic down in the van looks like a hurricane up above. - But towards morning the rain subsides. - We quietly sneak into the campground to take a shower first and buy two croissants on the way back. Then there is...
Day No. 18 - Forever, means forever.
Wake up in the middle of the night, is it because Torgit sleeps so fitfully? These, like the last few nights, song lyrics are haunting my head. - From day to day the level sinks. - The day before yesterday Marius, with freedom: "All who dream of freedom,...
Day No. 17 - Idleness is the beginning of all ideas - Plage De Goulien
While our neighbor from Radio Beach Bum* is still sleeping in, the rising sun is already driving me to the beach: It's still pretty fresh in the morning. But the loneliness rewards the early rising. So the opportunity offers itself further start attempts with the...
Day No. 16 - The ravages of time ... - Taladerc'h

Day No. 14 - Back to the future - Hôpital-Camfrout
Our day begins once again with packing. But slowly a certain routine comes into the morning and evening Tetris for adults. But today follows directly the reward. - Before we start with our tour, we go a little to the Plage de Pors Mabo,...

Day No. 12 - Penguins in Brittany? - Cap Fréhel
In the last few days, we have of course also looked at one or the other blog and had to realize that mainly professionals are on the road. Either photographers, media specialists or copywriters. We can't compete with all that. - Do we have to God...
Day No. 11 - Sunny Side up - Pointe de Grouin
Finally it is here, the long-awaited sun. - We leave Camping Grouin and this view. Next we want to explore the Pointe de Grouin. Already a few hundred meters behind the campsite is a parking lot. From here you can reach a...
Day No. 10 - Transit prohibited - Le Mont-Saint-Michel
Today we go back to Le Mont-Saint-Michel. We leave the parking lot with bus transfer on the left and prefer to start by mountain bike at 48 Route de la Rive Ardevon, 50170 Pontorson. From here you have no mountains, but instead a...
Day No. 9 - turquoise et vert - le Balcon de la Baie

Day No. 7 - The world is upside down - Omaha Beach

Day No. 4 - Only love counts ... - Fort Lapin

With the camper van through France
Hector sets off - a camping van in France
In September 2019, we were traveling in France with our VW California "Hector". We explored northern and western France in particular. We were on the road for a total of 3 weeks, 22 nights to be exact. The destinations we chose for our trip included various places and sights in Normandy and Brittany.
We drove along the coast and visited places such as the famous Omaha Beach, Le Mont-Saint-Michel and the port city of Nantes.
Aremorica, which is the ancient name for the regions of Normandy and Brittany, really inspired us. But the western areas of France, outside the two regions, also held adventures and new experiences in store. I was particularly impressed by the Dune du Pilat, which is located in the department of Gironde.
A camping van - just right for us and our vacation
Once again, the trip proved that the best accommodation for us on vacation is not a hotel or a vacation apartment, but a mobile home. With our camping van, we only have a single "room" at our disposal, but the local independence of camping absolutely makes up for that for us. After all, what hotel or vacation apartment can you drive right along the coast and arrange your stay completely individually according to your own wishes? - A camper van can do that with ease! In addition, the pitches are variable, so there is certainly no room for boredom and nothing stands in the way of interesting travel reports.
If you are thinking about buying a camper, you should take a closer look at the Space Camper. We registered our "Butch" in July of this year. For us, it is the successor to the VW California "Hector" that we were traveling with in France.
We discover Normandy with our camper van
Le Mont Saint Michel - "Small but mighty" also applies in Normandy
With its 30 inhabitants, you might expect one of those unspectacular villages that exist all over the world. But as we discovered on our trip, this is not the case. Instead, our vacation taught us that a stay in "Le Mont Saint Michel" is definitely worthwhile. In addition to the land-based part of the village, there are parts of the village that are located on a small, rocky island - definitely very special!
Omaha Beach - Normandy as a theater in the Second World War
Some of you probably remember Omaha Beach from your history lessons. We decided to visit this historically significant place with our camper van on our round trip through France. This is exactly where the US troops landed in Normandy on June 6, 1945, known as D-Day. Contrary to the dramatic events at the time, we had a pleasant, relaxed yet contemplative day on the beach and were able to enjoy nature.
Highlights in the west of France -
All you need to be happy is a camper van
The Médoc wine region and the Dune Du Pilat
Located in the west of France, the Dune Du Pilat is the largest shifting sand dune in Europe and a place that makes you acutely aware of the power and beauty of nature. To get to the dune, we drove through the Médoc region, one of the most famous wine-growing areas in France. Our campsite was right next to the Dune Du Pilat, so climbing the dune first thing in the morning, one of my favorite activities of the entire camping vacation, was possible without any major inconvenience. The view from the dune itself is unforgettable. On one side is the sea, on the other you can see the treetops of a forest right next to the dune.
A view that has burned itself into my heart and proves that if you set out on the road to happiness, you can find it. For me, our camper van is the vehicle that takes me to many of the happiest moments in my life. It's a training tool for my happiness muscle, so to speak.
