"A beautiful day! - The world stands still, a beautiful day!
Come, world, let yourself be embraced, what a day!"
Even when you're traveling, there are days like this and days like that. Today was one of those, such a glorious day that you really would have liked to just embrace the world. - We were woken up by the sun and although it wasn't really warm, it wasn't cold either. - In the morning we had a few organizational things to do, a phone call with the tax consultant, a few tips from our neighbors, the Portugal experts, a bit of early morning exercise and so on. Somehow everything went relatively smoothly.
In the afternoon, we set off on our bikes to explore the coast again. But today we wanted to head a little further south. Shortly after the village, the Rota Vicentina hiking trail started again. - This led us up onto the cliffs. After just a few hundred meters, you have a fantastic view of a long sandy beach. The beach lies protected at our feet, framed by the cliffs towards the land - but how to get down? - We discover a narrow wooden walkway. This leads down several steps. We knew immediately that this deserted beach was ours.
Parallel to the path, a small stream shot to the edge and poured down as a waterfall. - As soon as I reached the bottom, I realized that I had to swim here. - That's right, not can, but must, anything else would have been criminal. - Where else can you find that? A huge beach, surf, cliff, waterfall and all without a single human soul? - Torgit still looks a little irritated as I strip off all my clothes in seconds and run into the water. - Okay, I admit that I stopped after a few meters, 14 degrees is a bit chilly. But just sitting down in the surf was priceless. - But what I found particularly cool was showering under the waterfall afterwards. Compared to the sea, the fresh water even seemed a bit warmer. - Unfortunately, the photos of this shower session had to be omitted due to voluntary self-control.
After some initial hesitation, Torgit was also quickly in the water. A single hiker looked over the cliff, saw us, took his photos and disappeared again. It probably won't be enough for the nudist newspaper. In the meantime, the sun had dried us out and we decided to go for a long walk on the beach.
After climbing a little over the cliffs, we were even able to explore the next beach and the one after that. As I climb over the last cliff, Torgit asks me if I can go any further. I say no, but try anyway. Torgit sinks "a little" into the next wave while trying to find a way between two cliffs. But this adds to the fun rather than taking it away. - Just looking stupidly out to sea, nice, very, very nice. When the sun was no longer warming us enough, we made our way home. - On the way, we realize how chilled we are.
We quickly realized what we were having for dinner tonight. - Soup not only makes you happy, it's also deliciously warm. In the evening, Gabi and Rainer, our current neighbors, come over for a glass or two or three of red wine. - It is both exciting and amusing to hear the impressions of the T2 Bulli generation, old windsurfers of the first generation, in connection with the T5. The stories remind me a little of my beginnings in diving. Back when "sex was safe and diving was dangerous". Windsurfing was still called board or stand-up sailing, and the choice of boards was probably limited to two boards in the early days: the windglider and the windsurfer. - The stories sound just as exciting as the development of their first own Postbulli. "We had no idea about it, but we just did it. Even today, I don't know how a moto works, but I've taken a few engines apart on the kitchen bench." A lot has happened in the last 40 years. I have no idea how they managed back then without YouTube, Facebook, Wiki and other swarm intelligence. - A nice conclusion. - There can be more days like this.
Addendum: The two of them sent us a picture of their van from home. - We think it belongs here.
Torgit's realization of the day: It does work, even if you, sorry woman, take a dip. - "Never, never tell me I can't do it"
"Because you are there, und every dream within reach.
Happiness has a name, wWhat a day!"
