This morning it is time to say goodbye at the campsite. We want to stand free and wild again.
But before that, everything that needs to be loaded has to be loaded. You wouldn't believe all the stuff. IPhones, MacBooks, batteries for the drone, flashlight, toothbrushes, vacuum cleaner, blender. - Then there is water to bunker, shower, water tank, two water bags. Finally, only Hector has to be made ready for takeoff. Off the wedges, down the high roof. - It's a bit of a challenge to find a new pack system. Where does the solar bag go, what do we do with the space we gained with the two new bags. We are constantly thinking about what needs to be optimized. - We are getting better and faster.
When we are ready, it is nevertheless noon. Because today the farewell has taken us off course. Rarely have we met so many nice people on a course. Everyone still comes around the corner with good wishes and advice. - Since we still have to go shopping, Torgit becomes visibly nervous. Because today is good weather. We want to go to the beach. But I still have an ace up my sleeve. - Elisabeth, whom I met on the flight, has recommended us a relatively close place.
When we arrived at the beach, we stop directly at the first possibility. Deck chairs unpacked, no chairs unpacked and then snack. And then, plop: happy.
Later we drive a few meters further under the pine trees. Here are the colored ones. - So the white goods talk about the vans. For that it is called the other way around white goods or yogurt cups. - The WAGENVOLK is as colorful as their vans. - Right next to us is a Swiss. He has been living in his old caravan for 13 years. His constant companion, at least for the last three years, a German shepherd. Although I am not at all a friend of shepherd dogs, also not Belgian, we two become directly buddies. Of course, that could be because I still have a whole pack of meatballs. He likes them better than I do - buddies for life, or at least until the next meatball.
Only later do I learn that my new buddy is a trained military dog. My instincts were right. You should make a friend of someone like that, because you don't want him as an enemy. The guy literally has a hell of a power.
I'll throw a few meatballs in the ring right away. To take away this dog his toy is not quite easy. But he shows patience with me. Later Torgit and I just sit there and enjoy the sunset. Simple, but beautiful!
A few meters away, a few Portuguese are having a small barbecue. - I quickly grab my plate and get in line at the grill. The supposed Portuguese turn out to be generous Brazilians. Audacity wins and I get my sausage, with wonderful salsa sauce.
Later we sit in the van, have turned on our fairy lights and listen to the sound of the surf. That more sea always makes you so happy.
Insight of the day: One man's enemy is another man's friend.
